EdgeRankChecker : A Review

I happened to end up on this website called www.edgerankchecker.com. I was searching for information on how increase the edge rank of the page and got this website where we can check the edgerank of a particular page.

Well I started with a simple Facebook login onto the website and we can choose the fan page (which we are admin of) and press the Edgerank button. It is a very simple process to understand. Only slipup for the website was the score which they produced and on what basis are they producing the result. They have also included a disclaimer that if the numbers of fans are less than 100 then the tool would not yield optimum result. It is a nice tool to check-in.

Humanizing Social Media

Always thought that why do people tend to write blog without a motive. From my personal experience I never wrote blog to monetize it or that hundreds of people can read them.

Social Media is not just a interactive media or the conventional broadcasting media. Social Media is more of a humanized media. It has emotions, feelings and all traits that a human should have.

Flaunting or Showing Love Person
Flaunting or declaring to the world is most common feeling we can ever have. In the real world people show their feelings by the way of expressions but in the virtual world they are shown in the form on text, video, photos
For Eg :  A friend of mine who we know that he is big fan of Hrithik Roshan but if we check his Facebook Profile we would be able to know that he is truly a Hrithik Roshan without even knowing him in real life .

Mood Swings Person
Now I know some of my friends always change their relationship statuses . From those changes we are able to know their fights with respective bfs/gfs. Some of them show various message of love and hurt. Some of them upload links of sad songs. It reflects what is going on in their lives.

Information Distributor Person
They are the true evangelist of  Social Media . It is because these people we are able make viral networks out of Social Media. They are marketers favorites and these people unknowingly help Social Media grow. They may share data without any intention but these are people who made Social Media what it is today

Disinterested People
These disinterested people are in large chunks. They are non-active people on Social Media. They are the people who don`t even have a profile pic on their Facebook page. They are the type of people who are on Social media by accident.

Let me not be a hypocrite, I too do all things mentioned above.

Guidelines for Social Media Engagement.

Social Media Engagement can be of various forms and based on various platforms. The following content may be applicable to any social platform say Facebook or Twitter.
1) Reason to respond
Always make people to respond. After all we call it "The Social Media", we need to make people reply to engagement  offered. The response too depends on what has been the engagement. So it is necessary for not have a great engagement with people but they need to respond to the engagement

2) Personalize the content
People feel close to a brand when the brand customizes itself in terms of product or a service. Google provides search results to people on the internet. The way it customizes itself for the need of people can be example of flexibility of service that they provide. In the same context Social Media Engagement has to be customized.
Eg Wishing customers on their Birthdays, Wishing people on religious holidays.

3) Offer people something different which they wont get through emails
People should be offered an engagement through which that can get two things out of it . 1) Information 2) Belongingness .
Eg : If a brand shows some emotional attachment towards its customers then it would be helpful in getting loyalty

4) Don`t make it too nosy
Yes, The "Nosy" factor, this is a major problem with Indian Brands, when in the adrenalin of getting more and more people to spread the awareness of their brand , they end up being nosy and too much of interference is being created.
