You Tube and Twitter`s political help..

In the midst of all the chaos in Iran. Websites like
Youtube.com and twitter.com helped the Iranian people to protest against the elections which were alleged to be illegal.

Twitter postpone the maintenance at the peak hours of Iranian protests. On the 17th June, 221,000 tweets sent about Iran, 3,000 videos were uploaded onto YouTube said, Mark Pfeifle, Deputy National Security Advisor to George W. Bush,

He went on more by saying this....
“If there’s anybody that should possibly get a Nobel Peace Prize in the next time around, it should be the founders of Twitter”

If websites change the world so much, we must create more of such websites. I personally feel that the web has not been yet explorered and its still a virgin territory. Thank you twitter and youtube.

Microsoft`s new strategy to attract users.

This maybe the weirdest strategy that Microsoft has ever used to attract users. They have started comparing their IE8 with other alternatives to show their superiority over others.

Though Internet Explorer 8 maybe the best IE after IE6, which we have used for years with WinXP. But there are other alternatives which are better in some or the other ways.

Firefox for example is type of browser which has lots of addons, and by installing those Addons make it similar to that of Internet Explorer 8. The only drawback of the Firefox system is that it does not have crash recovery and multitab multi process feature which apparently Google Chrome has.

Comparing all the browsers with Google Chrome, currently my favourite web browser. Its very light fast and does not crashes very often. It has a sleek look and which makes it better than browser currently.

Microsoft`s strategy to provide false information to users will truly offend the people using other browsers. This may be the worst kind of advertisement ever done to any Microsoft product.

Firfox 3.5 Beta RC2 Released.

Firefox fans will be happy with this release. Although it is not released officially, it is posted on Majorgeeks.com. I personally, was a big fan of Firefox before Chrome came. But I will rather give my old loyality to this web browser. The weird part I found was the description of this release

"Firefox is a small, fast and very easy to use browser that offers many advantages over other web browsers, such as the ability to block pop-up windows and the tabbed browsing." from majorgeek.com

Dude we already know that... :P.

Website review: Portableapps.com

I recently visited this site called portableapps.com, which has a number of portable applications. The site has title with bold tagline "Pick a Pc.. any PC", and they stick to their commitment. To use the services of the site, you have to login for which you have to give your email address.

The application include many of the popular open source applications such as Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, VlC player. The accessibility options contain the on screen keyboard and magnifying glass. Notepad++ and Xamp development tools are also provided for development, which actually help for programmer who has to shift all the programs with them.It has a long list of apps which are commonly used. It happens to have my favorite game, which is portable, Texas hol em Poker.

The bottom line is if you have an USB more than 1 gb then only all those applications can be of use.

Reinventing the WEB, Opera style

Opera, a mainly a web browser makers have stepped in another shoes. They tend to reinvent the web using technology called Opera Unite. Opera has somehow managed to create a webserver out of the web browser.

The Opera Unite creates a user based web server which can show the files(if declared public), to anyone in the world. Opera Unite, first creates a user and then the user selects the files which are to be shared with people. The user can share video, audio, pictures etc etc.

The another great suprise is that it has a open API and has many more services than just file sharing. I, personally never liked Opera browser but this service is tremendous ahead of its time. I can`t predict the impact of Opera Unite on the browser wars but it certainly inspire more such ground breaking technologies.
